Ambetter From Coordinated Care

I called to make my monthly payment and they charged me 3x, an extra $3,200! I called back when I realized it like an hour later and they told me “it will be fine, you will get refunded.” When you ask? 7-10 business day, no 3-5 business days. I called back later saying that wasn’t ok. Ask to speak to a supervisor, no they “don’t have supervisors.” They have an escalation team, tried to transfer me to them and was disconnected. Called back again, “I need your husband’s approval to talk to the escalation team.” What! Okay.. call back later when I’m able to get his “approval.” Now it’s going to take 21 days to get paid back because it’s over $1000 and has to be approved. Person mentions supervisor. They do have supervisors but they have to call you back in 48 hours. Oh my lord! So supervisor

On December 4, 2025, Coordinated Care of Washington, a Centene company, denied my cardiologist’s request for me to have a trans thoracic echocardiogram as I have three EKGs, done on different dates, equipment, and providers, that show evidence of a myocardial infarction. Their reason: “someone told me a I have mitral valve prolapse” and they need these records. In addition, they requested records of a previous echocardiogram. Now, I have told them twice and my doctor three times now that I was diagnosed with MVP as a child and records are not possible. Having MVP has nothing to do with my test results showing a heart attack. I have also never had an echocardiogram. Was an Ambetter member for a few months. I barely used the health insurance benefits. Calling customer service regarding benefits and membership questions was painfully confusing and difficult. I did like that they have a health rewards program which you can gain points for completing certain tasks. Got a pair of new headphones from it. That was really the only thing that I liked. As an insurance carrier though, I found them lacking and prefer other carriers like Kaiser and Regence which have more straightforward coverage.

Just switched my insurance to Ambetter this year and immediately regret. They denied a very simple prescription that I've been on for the last 2 years and will have to use for the rest of my life. Trying to see if I can switch to another insurance since it's the last day to do so.

We enrolled in another healthcare plan with Ambetter Coordinated Care for 2026 and made the first months binder payment through the WA State Exchange. Ambetter then cancelled our 2025 plan, failed to recognize the 2026 plan we selected during open enrollment through the WA St Exchange, and refunded our 2026 binder payment for no apparent reason. We called Ambetter member services several times to resolve the matter, but they were either unable or unwilling to help. We are now left with no health insurance for 2026 unless this matter can be resolved through the WA State Exchange. Bottom line is that our experience with Ambetter member services has been very frustrating because the agents have difficulty speaking clearly, seem unmotivated, and showed no initiative in resolving our problem.
