Worst company I've ever dealt with. Gave them every opportunity to avoid this negative review. They don't return phone calls in a timely manner, they blame their 3rd party appraisers for weeks of delay. Your tossed around like a bean bag once you finally reach someone. They do everything in their power not to pay. Claim AU02539774-CC-SCRF73KNSQH 255 dollars to make a happy customer but you choose no. I hope this review was worth it. Email from dealership: We are now over 2 weeks since a supplement was submitted to Horace Mann and they still have not gotten back to us with approval. Historically, Horace Mann has been very slow at returning supplement authorization, as all supplements must be authorized by Horace Mann in order for us to proceed with any changes. On June 22, 2023, we purchased auto and homeowners insurance policies from Horace Mann. (Previously, we had had the two policies with Horace Mann for 18 years and had switched to another provider six months before June 22 due to rate increases.) At the time the new policies began on June 22, we authorized the first payment of auto insurance to be deducted from our bank account in the amount of $355.37. Instead, on June 26, an unauthorized amount of $698.74 was deducted. That day, I contacted our agent, who was wonderful and fought for us throughout this unfortunate process, to report the unauthorized deduction and ask for the overage amount to be refunded to our account. I have been trying to cancel my renters policy for 4 months. I have contacted the company monthly, including getting assistance from former agents, without success. Even though this is an error on Horace Mann's part, I received a reimbursement of 1.00. This is an insult. To make matters even worse they took out another month of insurance. I don't know what to do. I am beyond mad. I will never work with or recommend this company.

Horace Mann has been so good to work with. They are efficient and caring and make you feel as good as possible about a situation that is very stressful when you have an immediate need. We recently had a water issue and had to have most of our flooring replaced. I am so glad we have been with them for about 30 years now and would recommend anyone who needs an Insurance Home to go with Horace Mann! You will be glad you did!

If your an educator or someone that has the possibility of getting Horace Mann as your insurance company I highly suggest it. I have been using them for the past 4 years, and we have had nothing but great experiences in all of our claim situations. We have had multiple claims as a family dealing with our roofs and vehicles. They have been great in execution, speed, and hassle free. Sheila Kersey is our agent and she is amazing!!!!! If you live in the Southwest MO area I highly recommend her and this company.
