My mortgage company did an escrow analysis and because my homeowners insurance skyrocketed my escrow balance was going to be short, by a lot. That meant I either paid a large lump sum - over $1000 or they would increase my mortgage payment by over $90 per month to cover the deficit. I found out my insurance payment was increasing by over 40%. And for no specific reason. We have been with the same company since purchasing the home 4-5 years ago. And we have never had a claim against that policy and all payments are on time - set up to auto deduct.
