Security Benefit - Overland Park

Well, I guess I am just another one of their VERY dissatisfied beneficiaries. It has been over 6 months since my mother's death, and for one reason or another (got lost on my desk/oh, I didn't see you answered that question 3 months ago/oh, I see you filed that document 4 months ago.), they still have not sent out the money, because they don't make money on money they don't have, so they keep yours. Stay far far away!

I was a beneficiary after death in the family and they mailed me my check with the payout. The original check got lost in our mail so I asked them to void it and send it again. I had to call 4 separate times for 4 weeks and they kept saying for some reason the new check was not processed. I never leave bad reviews but they actually just seem pretty incompetent. The customer service reps were very nice on the phone and did everything to help but it seemed like the problem was the managers and processing department.

The most charitable thing that can be said about this company is that they are incompetent. I don't have any evidence that they are deliberately withholding payment of the death benefit but that would seem to be a logical conclusion to be inferred from their service behavior. I sent the required paperwork months ago and received a confirmation that it had been received and that the funds would be distributed within 10 days. However, I still have not received any distribution. I attempted to contact them to find out what the holdup on the payout was and they hung up on me. The one-star review is too generous. Stay away from these people.

When my father passed he had an account with Security Benefit. Once they were notified of his passing the packets started to arrive. My sisters and I filled out their packets and returned them… nothing! They just kept sending packets. Called and was told what was wrong and needed. Sent everything again… nothing! Called again and was advised of what was missing. Completed and sent off…. Nothing. Oh, wait… another packet. Called again and was walked through the forms. Sent again following the instructions provided by their customer service representative… nothing! Wait… more packets. Called again and a manager walked me through the NOW not correct form. She assured me that was it and should process quickly…. Nothing! Called again and spoke with the same manager and now they say they are need

If I could give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, my experience with this organization has been extremely frustrating due to a lack of organization and communication. I consistently encountered challenges when trying to obtain basic information, and despite spending hours on hold and speaking with multiple representatives, I was still provided with incorrect details. Additionally, some of my information was processed inaccurately. I would not recommend using this company based on my experience.
