Terrible Experience After Years as a Loyal Customer. I was a customer with Encompass for many years and never had to file a claim, until recently, when my husband was in an accident that was 100% the other driver’s fault. Unfortunately, the other driver didn’t have insurance, so I had to rely on my own coverage with Encompass. The car was totaled, and Encompass offered me just $4,000 for a vehicle I had purchased only 3 years ago for $13,000. When I tried to negotiate a fairer settlement, I was threatened by the claims agent, who told me that if I didn’t accept the offer, I would be charged for “abandoning” the car. I had encompass home insurance when a tornado hit my home. Totaled every vehicle ($30k) and caused about $80k in home damages. They cut me a check initially for $30k and I had to argue with them every week for about 7 months. Eventually my adjuster promised that I’d be reimbursed for everything I had to pay out of pocket (to keep my contractors on site fixing holes in my house) while encompass was “processing my claim” for 8 months. He said another $30k was pending and stopped answering calls. Turned out they cancelled the money owed to me, fired the adjuster, gave me $7k and closed my claim. When I found out and called back they said it was closed and I’d have to file a new damage claim. Absolute worst insurance company you could pick. They will NOT cover your claim even when their independent advisor tells you your claim is as simple as it gets due to hurricane damage. Their online portal is awful and has a new/old system depending on how long you have been a customer. Can't wait to leave them as soon as possible. STAY AWAY!

An encompass insurer hit my parked car. The company tried to give me a $1800 dollar check for my car which damages ended up being $6000. While my car was in the body shop I had to get a rental for almost a month waiting for them to allow the body shop to order the correct parts that fit my car, because they only approved used parts that did not fit and were not useable. These parts had to be sent back and reordered multiple times. While this is happening I’m fighting for my rental reimbursement. Which is up to $2000 and the adjuster tells me she cannot give me a full reimbursement and starts saying random stuff about why she can’t, that should’ve have been stated and or presented to me in the beginning. Such as they don’t pay for rental insurance. when everyone knows you can’t get a rental

I was shocked to read all these bad reviews about this company. They are not my insurer, but one of their clients hit my car and they took care of me beyond expectations. The woman I worked with was extremely pleasant and available to me to answer questions. Money was sent promptly. I didn’t enjoy having to deal with this issue, but they made it as smooth as possible.
