David Tofig: Allstate Insurance

David was aggressive and overly interrogating today 10/16/25 when I requested to cancel my auto policy with his company. He was rude and kept demanding me to provide my new Insurance company declaration in order to cancel my current policy with him. He stated that it was the required by law, this is a lie. Because I wanted to cancel, I went ahead and forwarded it. He’s just rude and aggressive on the phone and desperately tried to stop me and said all these negative comments about Geico. I do not recommend his Allstate insurance company for that reason.

My father has been insured with David Tofig as his agent for a few years now. For the most part he’s only had 1 vehicle fully covered, but ever since last year he had another vehicle added. Once he added the new vehicle, he was advised to not have both cars fully covered since they were both old cars (10+ years old) and it would be an idiotic decision to do so. Following this advice, he decided to have the first car be one way while the recently added car be fully covered. After a recent accident with the newly added car, it turns out both cars were put under one way. When we called David to tell him about this mistake ON HIS PART he tells us that he wasn’t the one who made this change, which doesn’t make sense since we only ever talk to him when it comes to our insurance. We have been very happy with our experience with the Tofig insurance agency. After years at State Farm, where we had been passed on to a new agent who never contacted us, (for years), we came to Allstate and the Tofig agency through a referral by our son. I went down to the office, met with Josh Tofig, and subsequently purchased auto and umbrella insurance. Through the years, if we had a question or needed help, we have primarily talked to Josh. He went way beyond the call of duty when we had problems with a windshield replacement on our car. He really came through for us. Total disaster dealing with Tofig Insurance agency! I decided to cancel my auto & condo policies with this agency, after they raised my auto premium by 50%. I called the office to negotiate potential reduction, but heard "not to worry, all insurances are raising their premiums", and a "lecture" of how it will be with another insurance companies. But "fun" began with the cancellation. David demanded my new insurance policy declarations based on his wish (not required by Allstate policy or California law), or he will not cancel my policy and threatened to submit me to Debt Collection agency, if I don't pay renewal. That's a nice approach! It took some time with Allstate customer service to straighten this up, who said that some agents might require to provide continuation policy declarations

My experience with this Allstate agency has always been awesome! Whenever I call I am answered by a friendly and knowledgeable agent who is always prepared to answer my questions. And sometimes they are incredibly silly questions because who actually understands insurance? Mike is great! When I needed to insure my first car that wasn't a third hand me down, he explained everything in words that were easy to understand. When I needed renter's insurance he not only helped me understand what I was doing, but he got it taken care of *that day* so that I could sign the lease for my new apartment ASAP. I especially appreciate his sense of humor. It is so much easier to talk to an insurance agent when they joke and chat like a friend instead of being impersonation and business-like. Seriously
