I can honestly say that Cumberland Mutual has been amazing from the very first phone call. I was treated with respect, compassion, and integrity during one of the hardest moments my family has ever faced. Christopher Lafaso went above and beyond my expectations. He kept me informed throughout the entire claims process and even worked extra hours on the weekend. The fact that he personally called me on a Sunday to let me know the claim was approved lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. That level of dedication and care truly meant everything to me. Unfortunately, my experience has been very different with Progressive Insurance. My wife and I had a house fire, which was devasting to us. We lost nearly everthing. Peter Vlahakis was our point of contact. I am writing to let everyone know how amazing he and Cumberland were. Mr Vlahakis was very easy to reach by email and phone. He was prompt in returning inquires and he was extradordinarily patient and knowledgeable throughout the promise. He was kind throughout and supportive throughout the process. A true professional. He made a horrible situation easier to bear. We highly recommend Cumberland to anyone who needs insurance. It is so great to having a local company that cares about their community. I could not recommend Cumberland higher.

Cumberland Mutual cancelled my homeowner’s insurance on Christmas Day after seven years as a loyal customer. I always paid on time and never filed a claim. A minor dog-related incident that I responsibly self-reported in 2021…and that resulted in no claim or payout….was suddenly used almost five years later to give me two weeks to remove my dog or face cancellation. Punishing honesty years later and cancelling coverage on a major holiday shows Cumberland Mutual’s lack of loyalty and judgment. I found a better and cheaper policy elsewhere, but would not recommend this company to long-term homeowners. Cumberland Mutual has no moral compass.

My husband and I had our 2924 Jeep Wrangker 4xe plus most of our vacation belongings stolen in Montreal on our way to a Laurentian ski vacation. It was 4 degrees and our coldest weather clothes were gone! Christopher LaFaso called us with a calm reassuring voice and gave us instructions for obtaining the necessary items to enjoy our vacation as best we could. He was amazing! And our claim was settled fairly the first week back in the US! Can’t ask for more than that. Thanks Christopher and Cumberland!!

Peter, a Senior Property Advisor at Cumberland, helped me navigate an unexpected flooding issue at my rental property, and my experience with him was extremely positive.
