They had someone do their yearly outside inspection on our home. Afterwards they then sent us a notification that they were dropping us. The reasons given were weeds growing near the house, about 12 feet of fascia missing, some moss on our roof and they're convinced we have a wood stove for some reason (we don't have a wood stove). The way I see it, my home showed up on one of their spreadsheets that are populated by some BS algorithm. Perhaps our (perfectly good) roof is too old for their tastes and they are dropping us to reduce their risk? Who knows, I'm sure it's something like that. Once again, insurance has never in my life helped me. They have only made my life more difficult. I will vote to abolish this industry at every opportunity. I'll never use Citizens or any affiliated compa

Not good carrier. They have had my claim sitting in idle since October 2023. I requested for Citizens to send an engineer to my property because of the servers structural issues. In return, they never responded. Only to respond in March asking for an engineer to come out and cancelled my emergency living expenses. They acted like I don’t have expenses and bills from this incident. They severely underpaid me and didn’t event list 1/8 of the actual damages. The initial inspection was a joke, like literally they didn’t care and don’t care. My home is still in disfunction. They’re not a good company!

I’ve had a frustrating experience with Citizens. My first claim was denied as pre-existing, which I repaired myself. Years later, I filed a prompt, legitimate claim. They blamed a rodent chewing a water line, but my issue wasn’t about a water line. They showed trash under the sink as ‘evidence,’ but had no proof. Trash can appear for normal reasons—household debris, clutter, or repairs. In mediation, they had no real evidence. I feel they just look for reasons not to pay. I’m now seeking legal advice and will switch companies as soon as possible. If you have other options, avoid them. For those stuck, I suggest getting out when you can.

God help me if I ever am in need of this entity in an emergency. Right now, it doesn't seem that I have an alternative. While I was transferred to another entity by Citizens without recourse effective January 1, I am still receiving harassing notices from Citizens that my policy will be dropped if I don't verify flood insurance coverage, which I have had for 18 years! As far as I know, I am no longer insured by Citizens, but I still receive harassing notices. When I go to its website to receive notices, it takes a very long time to receive a verification code and when I finally receive the code and log into their website, I get a blank screen with no options. Furthermore, the agent assigned to me doesn't return my calls. This is a total nightmare.

I don't normally leave ratings but I thought this might be useful to somebody someday. First insurance company drop me left me scrambling for insurance. The only company that would take me with citizens to keep my mortgage in good standing. Had them for a couple years now never made a claim before. Pretty sure last hurricane season I may have had damage but was unaware. Beginning of August I noticed a leak forming on my ceiling. Went outside to see a depression in my shingles. Call the insurance company they told me to call a roofer. Called Foster's roofing a local roofer in my area. They were great and the quote was very low to replace the roof. Being that it is a 20-year roof with a 30-year shingle I thought I'd had more time. Put a claim in to citizens where I was denied because of l
