I purchased an extended warranty through Ford (administered by Assurant, formerly “The Mechanic”) specifically to avoid major out-of-pocket expenses on significant repairs. When my truck required a flywheel replacement and radiator repair, Assurant did approve part of the claim, but refused to cover over $1K of the repair costs, arguing that the Ford dealership was “overcharging” for labor and parts. This was a certified Ford dealership using manufacturer labor times and nationally published U.S. labor guides...not arbitrary pricing. During my call with Assurant, the representative repeatedly referred to Ford as a “private company,” implying they simply set their own prices without standards. That characterization was inaccurate and dismissive of how manufacturer-based service pricing act

Terrible service and a total billing nightmare. I was charged nearly $1,000 for a 'non-returned phone' from 2024, even though the original claim was for a lost device. To make matters worse, their records are a mess: they claim they sent two phones in 2024 (they didn't) and ignored the fact that I actually returned the extra device they sent for the claim i did in 2025. At this point, they can keep the money—clearly, they need it more than I do if they have to resort to these tactics.

When I switched to my new cell provider, I was asked if I wanted a phone protection plan on my phone, which I agreed to and have been paying on. I am a first responder so my phone stays in an Otterbox style case with a clip. When I stepped out of an emergency vehicle at work, the clip slipped off of my duty belt which caused the entire assembly to fall and crack the front and back of my phone. I filed a claim which was denied. I was told that due to my level of protection, only the front was covered. I wasn’t aware there was another level of protection. I then asked if I could at least get the screen replaced since that’s what my “protection plan” covered, and was told “no” because there is damage on the back as well. ASSURANT IS A SCAM!!! Stay away!!! Hope you guys never need first respon

Their T-Mobile account needs some work. A warranty phone replaced back in May was not returned until last July. It was sent to the wrong place. I have tried to get a proper return shipping label for the last week making contact with 9 T-Mobile Assurant agents and spent 8 hours repeating personal and account details to the agent to get a return shipping label via only email. We have currently received 4 of the 6 emails promised, none of which contains a shipping label. Assurant has issues with quick customer identification and has no history of prior communications on the issue.

I filed a claim through my phone carrier. I paid the deductible to have the phone replaced. It seemed like a smooth process. I received the replacement phone and immediately noticed it was not a proper replacement. The phone was dirty, the screen was pixelated, the battery wouldn’t hold more than 80% of a charge, the phone wouldn’t connect to my network, and the phone struggled to update. I immediately reached out to Assurant and that was when the nightmare started. I was expected to send BOTH phones to them for them to send a second replacement. There was no expedited shipping and this was before a four day weekend. This would leave me without a phone for at least four days, and that was unacceptable. I am a mom of seven, I work in a sales position that has me an hour and a phone from hom
