I’m new to Michigan, and the wonderful world of no fault auto insurance. I went with a well known national carrier. Boy was that a mistake. I drive by AGIA everyday, so I decided to give them a call. The receptionist’s were all amazing. They got me in contact with Michelle. She worked diligently to find the coverage I needed. In short.. my new premium for Auto,(6months) renters (1 year) and an umbrella policy (1year) is $80 cheaper than my 6 month auto policy was from the national company. It was a significant savings. A month before my homeowners policy was set to renew, this agency sent a bill to my mortgage company with premium increase of 31.9%. I received no communication from the agency that my policy was increasing so dramatically, they simply tried to force it through me escrow account. Upon receiving notification from my mortgage company that they had paid the invoice, I immediately contacted the agency. They simply blamed the insurance carrier and completely denied their responsibility, as my agent, to notify me of the substantial increase and/or offer me a more reasonably priced product. I notified them that I was cancelling my policy effective upon the renewal date and requested a refund for the new policy that would not go into effect for another month.
