Don't choose Amida Care!! I am deeply disappointed with Amida Care’s handling of my healthcare needs as a transgender individual seeking gender-affirming care. Despite the well-established medical necessity and commonality of facial feminization surgery (FFS) and its procedures such as jaw muscle reduction, Amida Care unjustly denied my doctor's submission for the jaw muscle reduction procedure, labeling it as "experimental." The jaw muscle reduction procedure is essential for my FSS. My doctor does not submit "experimental procedures" and it's ridiculous to assume any doctor would submit experimental procedures to insurance companies because they have very specific guidelines for approvals. This decision was not only dismissive but also ignored the overwhelming evidence and medical conse

For transgender health, the main coverage is great. All transition related medical services (FFS, GRS, HRT) and laser are covered. The vision provider Davis Vision is functional and basic. The dental provider Healthplex is unusable; nowhere accepts it.

Amida Care has been a great resource for me. I always go to their website for education, community resources and LGBTQ Health resources. When it comes to transgender health care they are the best health insurance plan in NY. I recommend Amida Care to everyone in my circle.

I called in urgent need of an in -network physician during business hours.( 10 am on a Tuesday) to be eventually prompted to an ANSWERING SERVICE that could Only take my phone number.(!) it is Now Friday and I NEVER received a call back:.... this is not acceptable. I had such hopes for AmidaCare based on word of mouth and stellar reviews but thus far it’s been a disappointment.
