Edited: following up to my earlier review. And sadly had to remove a star. The DMV paperwork was filled out wrong and we ended up having to spend hours waiting to fix it at the DMV. A main reason for using AAA was to avoid making a DMV trip. If you hope that using AAA will avoid a DMV trip - you might just want to start at the DMV. Jan and Omar were very helpful and petite t with us as we navigated some novel issues. I found the staff friendly and generally very positive and helpful.

I just moved here and needed to be added to my aunts membership and register my car in the state. Our first lady on the second floor was very helpful and nice. We went downstairs and Tiffany helped me. She was super sweet, patient, and helpful! She explained a bunch of different things to me and I never felt rushed or anything. We left to get a smog test and came back just as they were closing and Tiffany saw us and waved us over so she would finish my registration the same day!! This lady made a painful process completely painless, she was amazing.

I feel foolish for assuming the AAA Encinitas branch would offer an easy way to optain a very easy form, but alas it was not a bastion of efficiency. In fact, the employees operate with zero sense of urgency despite a waiting room full of disgruntled people. I visited with the goal of obtaining an International Driving Permit - a form to be submitted with two passport-style photos and a nominal fee. I was told the wait was twenty minutes - it turned into fifty minutes before I was seen. The staff were all perfectly friendly, especially the woman who eventually assisted me. She was filling in from the Oceanside branch, and I was sure to thank her for helping at this branch in such desperate need of employees. It needs to be said that customers' frusteration could be mitigated with honest

The lady on the phone was shockingly rude and curt, couldn’t be less interested in helping out a customer. I would rather go to the DMV where they are much more friendly and efficient than AAA.
